Moving Voices is Celebrating Children by joining Minds Wide Open: Virginia Celebrates Children In the Arts 2012.  Patricia Ward, recipient of the prestigious Anita Zahn Award for Education of The Child will stage and present an evening length Festival honoring children with Isadora Duncan Dance and The Movement Arts.

Celebrate Isadora Duncan's Birthday through the Art of the Dance.

Students from Moving Voices will perform choreographies in the tradition of Isadora Duncan, American Founder and Matriarch of Modern Dance.

Wednesday, May 25, 6-8pm in the Prizery Banquet Hall.

New York premiere of MVIDCE's "Muses of Modern Dance"

MVIDCE's Muses of Modern Dance: Legends and Legacies, held at the Prizery in May (view Muses of Modern Dance photo gallery ), was such a success that it was premiered in New York's Kaatsbaan International Dance Center in June.

Billed as "An extraordinary historic dance event with Special Guest Stars," Mystics Immortals: The Muses of Modern Dance was performed on two consecutive nights featuring:

  • Jeanne Bresciani as Isadora Duncan
  • Livia Drapkin Vanaver as Ruth St. Denis
  • Jody Sperling as LoÏe Fuller
  • with Arlene Sterne, the voice of the Muses

A profusion of magnificent works from modern dance notables Isadora Duncan, Loie Fuller and Ruth St. Denis demonstrate the eternal timelessness of this body of seminal works.

MVIDCE Partners With School System

Patricia Ward (4th from right), Executive Director of MVIDCE, appears with other grant partners.Working with Moving Voices and several other community partners, Halifax County school system officials have been awarded two grants totaling over $1 million for two 21stCentury Community Learning Centers.

Partnering with Moving Voices will provide middle school students in the after-school program an opportunity for cultural enrichment to integrate movement and dance.
